Skills monitoring transformation

Digital transformation and decarbonisation are changing the demands companies place on their employees. With the help of the Bertelsmann Stiftung's Job Monitor, we show and analyse this process for Munich.

Transformation and labor market

How are job profiles changing?

HR benefits for companies

The Bertelsmann Stiftung's comprehensive Jobmonitor database shows the number of local job advertisements, the top 10 occupations and month-on-month changes → here for Munich.

If you are a company looking for candidates, you can see immediately whether job profiles are in high demand and whether certain areas are experiencing skills shortages.

The Job Monitor displays current vacancies according to criteria such as location/region, occupations and interdisciplinary skills (so-called "soft skills").

Analyses for further training and future qualifications

The job monitor for Germany, which has been freely accessible since September 2022, evaluates a total of 1,672 agent websites, 69,000 company websites and 965 job portals - around 200,000 job advertisements per night. The job advertisements are evaluated using a digital text analysis by a learning algorithm (AI).

The data tool is thus an excellent analytical instrument for identifying qualification requirements, trends and training needs from developments in the labour market, especially for Munich.

The Department of Labour and Economic Affairs, in cooperation with the Hannover Economic Region, is therefore funding the Job Monitor for a period of three years and, with the help of the Bertelsmann Stiftung, intends to use the locally relevant data for a "Skilled Workforce Monitoring Transformation".

The aim is to use the analyses of partial qualifications to set up suitable support services, especially for unskilled jobs and for sectors particularly affected by the transformation, and to tailor these specifically to the qualifications and skills in demand.

The solid database benefits not only enterprises but also local training providers, who can use the monitoring to continuously adapt their services. It can also be used to develop transition pathways for workers at risk of unemployment and to identify skills shortages in the area of continuing training.

The ongoing monitoring of transformation movements can thus provide valuable insights for all stakeholders in the Munich labour market.

We have already carried out focus analyses for the automotive sector and for the differentiation between unskilled and skilled work in selected sectors.
